Trouble and the law
Misbehaving has consequences in Poppywood. Some are a slap on the wrist; some put you in a cell.
What causes trouble
- Missing a booking you agreed to.
- Leaving a debt unpaid for two game days.
- Messy star moves, like storming off set or a public meltdown.
- Cheating on a partner.
- Standing up a celebrity who came to see you.
- Partying too hard.
- Driving a fast car (you may get pulled over).
- Skipping court.
What can happen
Each kind of trouble has its own list of likely consequences. Among them: a fight that costs health, a lawsuit for a share of your cash, criminal charges, a fine, arrest, community service, lost fame or celebrity experience, a scandal headline, bookings cancelled by people who heard about it, a ban from a venue, a broken friendship, a blacklist from a celebrity's circle, or a restraining order.
Notices arrive as talk cards. Court dates, community service and jail time go on your calendar and show under the clock, so you can see what you owe and when.
Arrest and bail
If you're arrested, you're taken to a cell at Poppywood PD. Post bail to get out straight away, or serve the time.
Going to court
At the County Courthouse you can hire a lawyer, settle a lawsuit out of court in the conference room, or face the judge. Don't skip it: miss a civil hearing and the judgment goes against you; miss a criminal one and a warrant goes out, and the police pick you up the next time you're in public.
Avoiding it
Hire a team. Security, a manager and a publicist can stop some bad events before they happen, and when they do, the person who stopped it tells you what nearly went wrong. When a bad event does land, the game ends it with a tip about who on a team could have stopped it.
Tip: the cheapest way to stay out of court is to keep your calendar honest. Only accept bookings you'll actually turn up to, and keep enough cash for a week of upkeep.
